Department of Pharmacology and Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking the employment of a Research Scientist to aid in the performance of NIH funded research.
The position will involve daily performance of tasks related to mouse behavior, mouse colony maintenance,
elctrophysiology recordings, and culture of cell lines for the purpose of generating viral vectors.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
LGeneral care, breeding, and genotyping mice. These duties will include DNA extraction from tissue samples
and the performance of PCR to identify appropriate genotypes of mice to ! be used for eperimentation.
Performance of behavioral! assays
Performance of electrophsyiological recordings from freely behaving mice
Drug administration to mice and euthanasia for the purpose of tissue collection
Immunohistochemical analyses of mouse tissues
Maintenance of laboratory equipment
Ordering and maintaining laboratory supplies
Basic research requirements:
Daily performance of mouse colony maintenance, experimentation, and support duties
Preparing solutions, cleaning glassware, ordering supplies
Maintain laboratory equipment and laboratory organization

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelorâs degree in Psychology and/or Physiology (preferred), or other Biological Sciences.
Must know fundamental concepts of:
--Handling and performing experimentation on laboratory animals.
--Electrophysiological recordings.
--Behavior! al analyses of laboratory animals.
--Establishing/instituting compliance with Institutional Animal Use and Care.
--Setup and maintenance of electronic and behavioral recording equipment.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Condition of Employment:
Ability to work with animals.
