ADVANCED REGISTERED NURSE PRACTITIONER - PSYCHIATRIC ARNP - TIDES PROGRAM/OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH: The Spokane VA Medical Center is seeking a permanent, part-time psychiatric ARNP to join our Behavioral Health Service Team, including work in our TIDES (Translating Initiatives for Depression into Effective Solutions) team and/or the Outpatient Mental Health specialty care clinic. TIDES is designed to assist Primary Care providers in treating mild to moderate depression; insomnia and other sleep disturbances; and anxiety disorders associated with adjust! ment issues. The ARNP in this role will serve as a consultant and collaborative treating provider, working closely with Primary Care PACT teams to offer brief, Veteran-centered behavioral health care in a convenient and low-stigma environment. In Outpatient Mental Health, this ARNP will provide assessment, education and treatment in the outpatient setting for veterans with mental health disorders, PTSD, mood disorders and others. The ARNP may infrequently be called on to provide coverage for the inpatient psychiatric unit (8-12 beds). The ARNP will serve as a key member of a dynamic multidisciplinary Home Team and may participate on hospital- or service-level committees, task groups, or special project teams. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizen of the United States. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the appl! icant: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) o! r The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia . In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Must be proficient in spoken and written English .
Nurse Practitioners must be licensed or otherwise recognized as a nurse practitioner in a state, possess a master's degree from a program accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE, and maintain full and current certification as Psychiatric and Mental Health nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. The certification must be in Behavorial Health/Psychiatry to which the individual is being appointed! .
Applicant's education and length of nursing practice (experience) will be considered by a Nurse Professional Standards Board in determining the grade and salary of the applicant selected. Experience as a RN will be evaluated to determine if the experience is of an acceptable level of quality with regard to the following four dimensions of nursing: Practice, Professional Development, Collaboration and Scientific Inquiry. Each dimension of practice has criteria that demonstrate essential core competencies for VHA Nursing Personnel. The criteria are as follows: Practice: practice, ethics and resource utilization, Professional Development: performance, education/career development, Collaboration; collaboration, collegiality, Scientific Inquiry: quality of care, research. Education/Experience Requirements:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, no experience.
Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 y! ear of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's deg! ree in a related field and no experience; or a Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) and no experience.
Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of experience, or an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of experience; or a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of experience, or a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no experience.
Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of experience, or ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelors degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years experience or a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 years experience, or a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no experience.
Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years experience or Doctoral! degree in nursing or related field and approximately 2-3 years experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The population of male and female veterans served ranges from the adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially longer periods of walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patient and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situation or operative/invasive procedures. The incumben! t may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary t! o delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
