Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Diagnose patient conditions and their causes
- Writes prescriptions for required medication to patients
- Interview patients about symptoms and complaints, and determine whether a psychiatric disorder has a physiological or emotional basis
- Screen patients for physical illness and analyze explanations for psychiatric illness, such as developmental issues, family dysfunction, genetics, neurological trauma or social or cultural problems
- Assess risk factors for mental illness and conduct broader wellness evaluations
- Conduct individual, group or family counseling sessions
- Monitor patient’s med! ication use and document treatment results
- Track pati! ent progress and report their results to doctors, including psychologist
- Work with other medical professionals to evaluate or change treatment plans
- Educate patients’ families about mental illness, treatment and prevention
- Attends trade shows and/or seminars as approved or requested by manager
- Able to work effectively under pressure
- Gives undivided attention to the members and patients
- Willing and able to work extra hours and a flexible schedule when called upon
- Responsible for notifying staff for needed supplies or replacement of equipment
- Attends all department meetings and trainings
- Communicates questions and concerns by members, patients and cast members to management in a timely manner
- Adheres to all HIPPA and OSHA guidelines and requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters Degree in Nursing with a specialty of any of the follo! wing: Psychiatric Nursing, Psychiatry, Nurse Practitioner Psychiatric or Nurse Practitioner and coursework in pharmacology, pathophysiology and physical assessment
- Certifications through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
- Current WA state license is required
- Must be licensed for independent practice in Washington State
- Must be certified in Psychiatry/Mental health
- Must also have current prescriptive authority in Washington
