The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, in conjunction with the UW Autism Center , currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist 3 . This individual will serve as a full time licensed clinical

psychologist, and will participate in a multi-site collaborative study on individuals with 16p11.2 deletion and duplication syndrome funded by the Simons Foundation. Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the psychologist will conduct diagnostic and phenotype assessments as part of this collaborative project conducted with Harvard, UCSF, Columbia, Emory, and Baylor College of Medicine. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research Study Activities:

  • Independently administer, score, and ! interpret an array of psychological assessments, including: cognitive, academic, language memory, executive functioning, adaptive functioning, motor, and diagnostic.
  • Coordinate and lead the efforts of multiple clinicians across multiple sites. Assign multiple clinicians on a particular subject to team assessments where appropriate.
  • Independently administer and code the gold standard instruments used in an autism diagnostic evaluation, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and Autism Diagnostic Interview (ADI). Oversee and maintain at least 80% coding reliability on these instruments with the local research team and trainers as well as consultants for the developers of these measures.
  • Significantly contribute to study wide data collection and data monitoring. Review the data with a variety of data analytic strategies and programs.
  • Provide the PI with design change proposals and implementation plans. Use study data to ! review current research aims and methodologies.
  • Analyze and pr! epare data for presentation. Provide PI and Stakeholders regular status reports.
  • Independently write manuscripts from the study data and findings.
Research Management:
  • Supervise the UW research team and ensure each clinical assessment follows all compliance and study guidelines for measure administration.
  • Design and conduct trainings for staff regarding experimental and behavioral measures.
  • Aid PI in grant writing and submissions.
  • Significantly contribute to study wide meetings (weekly meetings, study specific off-site meetings). Position will be required to travel to some study specific off-site meetings.

REQUIREMENTS:
Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology, plus a minimum of two years related experience.
  • License in clinical psychology in the state of WA;
  • Experience with children and adolescents with 16p11.2 deletion and duplication syndrome, rare genetic disorders, autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disability, and acute and chronic psychiatric difficulties.
  • Research reliable on ASD diagnostic tools: Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (all modules) and Autism Diagnostic Interview -Revised (including Toddler version)
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

DESIRED:
Proficient in psychological assessments: Cognitive (DAS, WISC, WASI, WAIS, WPPSI), Academic (WIAT-III), Language (PPVT, EVT, CTOPP, CASL), Memory (CVLT and CVLT-C), Executive Functioning (D-KEFS), Adaptive Learning (Vineland, ABAS), Motor (M-ABC, Purdue Pegboard, Beery VMI), and Diagnostic (DISC, ADOS, ADI-R)! .

Condition of Employment:
This position will requi! re traveling to multiple sites in the Puget Sound area and coordinating multiple research teams. This position may involve working on evenings and weekends.
