DUTIES:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is assigned to the Acute Psychiatry or Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP) and functions as a team member under the guidance of the RN. Incumbent must be self-directed and able to function with minimal direction. He/She is responsible for completing clinical reminders and medication reconciliation, providing medical assistive care and administrative support when needed. Demonstrates flexibility in taking assignments and complete a comprehensive system of tasks that are specific to Acute Psychiatry or RRTP. He/She must demonstrate the ability to observe, identify and respond to the patient's needs for nursing care, including, but not limited medication administration, wound care treatments, EKG meter downloading, specimen colle! ction various urologic procedures, suture and staple removal, capillary blood glucose testing, equipment assisted care and be able to recognize deviation from normal. The incumbent is also responsible for patient education and documentation. He/She performs age appropriate care, uses techniques to appropriately de-escalate disruptive patients.
WORK SCHEDULE: Night Shift, 8:00 p.m. - 8:30 a.m., three days a week with an 8-hour shift each pay period (every two weeks); the days of the week may vary. Work schedule also includes varied weekend shifts.

The Professional Standards Board (PSB - a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate's education and experience and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected individual.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Performs personal and nursing care duties. Moderate lifting (15 - 44 lbs.), heavy lifting (45+ lbs), moderate carrying (15 - 44 lbs.), straight pulling, reaching above shoulders, both hands required, walking and standing, repeated bending, ability for rapid mental and muscular coordinating simultaneously, specific visual requirements, mental and emotional stability required.
