The WWU Counseling Center is seeking to fill a temporary, full-time psychological counselor position for the coming academic yearâ€"September 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013.

About the Department: Counseling Center

Position Responsibilities:
Provide clinical assessments with triage-based disposition and referral Provide individual counseling for students within a brief and focused counseling model. (Average of 3-4 sessions) Assist students in finding off-campus professionals for referral Provide coordinated services for clients between the Counseling Center, Alcohol and Drug Consultation and Assessment Services, CASAS, the Student Health Center psychiatrists, Disability Resources, Residence Life, and various off-campus services Facilitate and co-facilitate groups, workshops, and psycho-educational outreach Provide at least 3 hours per week of scheduled urgent appointments for students in crisis Serve in the regular after-hours on-call counselor rotation Serve during times the university is in session and take a portion of on-call during breaks Must be available and able to respond immediately to phone calls and to be on-site within 30 minutes If a large-scale crisis occurs, the counselor will be expected to be part of a team of responders which could be after-hours, on weekends, or at other times outside the work day Participate in the weekly staff meeting, medical consultation meeting, peer consultation group, and other departmental and division meetings and events Required Qualifications: Ph.D./Psy.D. or Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, clinical social work or other closely related field If an applicant has a master’s degree the applicant must have a current license to practice and be licensed-eligible in WA. Additional supervision toward licensure can be provided for Ph.D. or Psy.D. staff. Proven clinical experience with a clinically diverse population Experience with risk assessment and crisis response Experience working as a part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team-based approach to clinical services Ability to provide brief and focused individual counseling. (Average of 3-4 sessions) Preferred Qualifications: Current license to practice in WA Clinical experience working with a college population Experience facilitating counseling groups Academic Emphasis: N/A Job Location: Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA
