PURPOSE:
Provide inpatient therapeutic psychosocial care for voluntary and involuntary adults admitted to the ADULT INPATIENT UNIT. Provide leadership in all aspects of the treatment process involving four fundamental responsibilities: psycho-therapeutics, representation of the unit in Kitsap County Superior Court and responsibility for an array of agency and unit-based work practices to ensure unit safety and effective practices.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Complete intake interv! iews and documentation with newly admitted clients in a timely! manner. Contact and develop cooperative relationships with those collateral contacts that can assist in development of effective individualized treatment including the nurse, Psychiatrist/ARNP, family members, etc.
Develop treatment plans for both voluntary and involuntary residents. Include relevant data from both the prescriberâs history and physical and the nursing plan of care when developing the treatment plan. Maintain plans that are individualized and reflect unmet acute needs the current hospitalization can effectively treat.
Conduct therapeutic groups for all clients in the milieu who are appropriate for group therapy (a minimum of once per week).
Prepare documentation and testimony for Kitsap County Superior Court mental health hearings. Identify and prepare relevant witnesses to appear as needed.
Participate in a collaborative leadership role with the multi-disciplinary Treatment Team. Act as advocate for the psychiatric and! social needs of the client. Provide consultation to the physician/ARNP in the development of treatment plans and court testimony. Be available to AIU staff as a source for clinical practice and mental health resources.
Provide short-term individual, group and family therapeutic services to expedite discharge planning and decrease need for readmission.
Maintain and submit records and documentation to meet the regulatory, agency and funding source requirements.
Participate in the management of assaultive clients on the unit and the Youth Inpatient Unit as needed.
Routinely assess client and staff safety including potential for harm of self, others or to unit property. Take effective corrective action.
Regularly observe effect of current policies and inform supervisor of deficiencies in the program, suggest special projects that may benefit unit and agency.
Participate in QI activities, committees and special task forces a! s requested.

Youth Inpatient Unit
PURPOSE:
Coordinate the intake and treatment process for voluntary and involuntary admissions. Work with the referring source on voluntary and involuntary admissions to assure timely and appropriate discharge. Conduct individual, group, family, and milieu therapy for clients at the YIU.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Develop discharge plans for both voluntary and involuntary residents. Work with the referral sources to assure that they assume appropriate responsibility for care.
Provide individual, group and family therapy services. Maintain and submit complete, accurate, and timely records and documentation to meet regulatory, agency, and funding source requirements.
Complete screenings, assessments, intakes, and discharges; arrange after-care services for clients.
Obtain information from families! regarding history, court involvement, finances or discharge planning.
Coordinate treatment plans and participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team in order to help develop and implement meaningful treatment plans for clients.
Provide clinical supervision and education to milieu staff as requested by Program Manager.
Complete and sign ITA documents for court and appear in court as needed.
Authorize discharges, and supervise staff in unit managerâs absence, per WAC requirements.
Substitute for unit manager as requested.
In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description. Master's degree in related field with two years appropriate clinical experience in providing services to individuals and families; experience in therapeutic residential treatment setting highly preferred. Experience with the theory and practice of Cogniti! ve Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Motivational Inter! viewing and co-occurring substance use disorders is also preferred. Proficiency with computer keyboarding and MS Word is required.
