Job Description

Job Title:
Dual Diagnosis Mental Health Therapist

Note:

Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.

Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Psychology, Social Wor! k, Marriage, Family and Child Counseling, or closely related b! ehavioral science field (with a focus on mental health counseling).

Must be a Registered Social Worker, Registered Marriage and Family Counselor, Registered Health Professional or a Registered Clinical Psychologist.

Chemical Dependency Professional WA State Certification required.

Skills:
Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Must have excellent organizational skills

Must be computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Flexibility and willingness to develop and expand skills

Must be able to plan, deliver, and facilitate services, supports, and interventions that respond to the unique cultural and linguistic needs of the people he/she serves.

Must have strong and timely documentation and assessment skills.

Experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with individual; demonstrating sensitivity to individual, ! family and cultural differences and ability to engage and work respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum of three (2) years of mental health counseling.

Minimum of three (2) years of clinical practice in the field Chemical Dependency counseling.

Other Requirements:
Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License.

Must provide a copy of driver’s license and drivers abstract prior to interview.

Training and experience in working with diverse client base.

Ability to work independently.

Must have strong team/consensus team building skills.

Must be able to use a holistic approach to recovery and mental health.

Must be able to effectively resolve conflict and cope with crisis situations.

This position requires the employee to work regularly with clients who abuse or are addicted to drug and/or alcohol. Engaging in off-duty sale, purchase, transfer, abuse! , use or possession of alcohol, illegal drugs or controlled substances ! will have a negative effect on the employee’s ability to perform his/her work for the Tribes. Any such action by the employee will subject the employee to discipline, including termination.

Must adhere to strict confidentiality of all information seen or heard.

Tolerance and patience to deal with impatient, angry and upset people.

Must be able to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or flexible hours as needed or requested.

Must have a successful employment history with the Tulalip Tribes and other employers.

Must be able to successfully pass an initial and periodic background & criminal check, as a condition of/and continued employment.

Physical Characteristics and/or Prerequisites:
Manual and finger dexterity for the operation of personal computer, office machines and routine paperwork.

Tolerance to be exposed to computer screen for prolonged periods of time.

Stamina to sit, stand and/o! r walk for prolonged periods of time.

Mobility to bend, stoop, and/ or climb stairs.

Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Recovery Home Manager, the CD/MH Therapist will provide individual, group, and family counseling/education to Residents of the Tulalip Tribes Recovery Home.

Employee Reports To:
Behavioral Health Recovery Home Manager

Employee Supervises:
Non-Supervisory Position

Extent of Job Authority:
Under the direction of the Recovery Home Manager provides CD/MH counseling services to Recovery Home residents according to department requirements and expectations.

Specific Duties Performed:
Provide individual and group counseling and support services to residents of the Recovery Home.

Conduct comprehensive CD/MH assessmen! t of clients’ presenting circumstances, social and psychiatric histor! y, and/or immediate needs.

Develop individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and objectives.

Coordinate, prepare and maintain accurate records of all clinical work and documentation in a timely and thorough manner.

Maintain and provide billing and statistical information to supervisor in a timely manner.

Work collaboratively with tribal and non-Tribal entities as needed for optimal client care.

Perform outreach to and coordinates services with the community.

Network with organization/agencies to coordinate services for clients and families.

Participate in daily debriefing sessions, weekly supervision, department, tribal wide and other meetings, training and development opportunities as determined appropriate by supervisor.

Maintains confidentiality of all records, materials and communications concerning the identity of patients according to 42 CFR, part 2.

Conducts co-occurring thera! py as recommended for patients.

Works with local Social and Health Services, school districts, education and vocational services, tribal departments and entities, Tribal staff, and community.

Ensures that program is ready for audits as scheduled.

Assures that continuity and quality of care is provided to all clients.

Consults with MH/CD Clinical Supervisors and/or psychiatrist to provide optimal treatment for co-occurring (dual diagnosis) patients.

Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

Terms of Employment:
This is a Contract Position, Regular Full-time requiring 40 hours per week or 2080 hours per year. Increase in pay is subject to budgetary restriction, following successful completion of applicable probationary period.
