Performs direct inpatient and outpatient neuropsychological t! esting, evaluations, and counseling services for patients referred by physicians, vocational counselors, and/or attorneys. Uses research and knowledge to help emotionally or mentally disturbed patients adjust to life and/or cope with illness and injury. Responsibilities include promoting healthy living and disease prevention through counseling patients, and studying how patients adjust to illnesses and treatments mentally and physically. Offers treatment options, and adjusts treatment as needed depending on a patient's progress. Represents psychology by participating with other department members in the development, implementation, evaluation, and promotion of rehabilitation patient care programs.

Incumbents are accountable for keeping professional skills/licensure current; developing and maintaining professional contacts with appropriate community resources; participating in continuous performance improvement, contributing to the administration of cost effective, ! quality delivery of psychology services and responding effecti! vely to legal, patient rights, safety, and emergency situations in the execution of duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Performs patient assessment/data collection and formulates treatment plans that reflects interdisciplinary approach to care and/or completes evaluation report with recommendations for referral source.

Forms effective working relationships with all healthcare team members, referring physicians, patients, and their significant others.

Promotes integration of multidisciplinary care through communication with team members and participation in multidisciplinary team decision-making.

Works with other managers, staff and physicians to ensure interdepartmental coordination in program planning, implementation, evaluation, administration, and promotion.

Implements and regularly updates treatment plans to include consultation with other disciplines assigned to carry out cognitive behavioral management approaches.
Offers treatment options, and adjusts treatment as needed depending on a patient's progress.

Administers psychological testing; interprets results and applies information to treatment plans.

Documents services provided and submits patient charges.

Tracks all clinical outcomes in appropriate records in accordance with FHS policies and standards.

Cultural Sensitivity and Competence: Demonstrates proper use of available communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services.

Patient Populations Served: Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department’s defined specific populations served.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements:
Doctorate degree in Psychology; two (2) years experience within the ! past five years providing direct patient care as a psychologist; one (1! ) year experience in a hospital setting; and one (1) year experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

One or more years experience in working with patients with chronic pain is desirable.

Licensure/Certification:
Washington State License to practice clinical Psychology.

Must be eligible to attain Neuropsychology certification.

Job Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of, and experience utilizing, a variety of psychological diagnostic and interventional approaches, including neuropsychological testing and behavioral management.

Knowledge of FHS standards and procedures, general regulatory requirements and professional standards of conduct relating to matters within designated scope of responsibility.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, professional standards of conduct, techniques and tools relating to the practice of clinical psychology.

Ability to keep abreast of trends, new de! velopments and regulatory requirements impacting matters within designated scope of responsibility.

Ability to effectively conceptualize, analyze and articulate complex issues verbally and in writing, and to document work in accordance with professional standards.

Ability to establish rapport and therapeutic relationships with patients and families/significant others.

Ability to demonstrate effectiveness in problem-solving, organizing, prioritizing, and consultation skills.

Ability to facilitate excellent communication, interpersonal and group interaction skills.

Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.

Ability to relate to a diverse range of clinical and support employees, management, and physicians.
