The Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences currently has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Research Study Coordinator 2 . This individual will perform professional level support for two research studies involving human subjects. This position will assist in the design of studies; develop and verify investigative procedures to accomplish research goals; recruit, screen, and enroll study participants; collect research data and administer behavioral intervention; analyze research study results and prepare reports for publication; develop data quality control program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, interview and screen potential subjects and determine eligibility according to established criteria
  • Administer informed consent procedures with subjects
  • Administer semi-structured psychiatric interviews and psychiatric symptoms ratings with subj! ects including MINI, PANSS, BPRS, and ASI
  • Administer biological measures of substance use (CO meter, breathalyzer, and urine analysis)
  • Administer an empirically supported behavioral intervention, as well as the control condition, to persons with serious mental illness and substance abuse
  • Complete and review human subjects applications and modifications
  • Assist in grant writing and preparation
  • Develop and maintain data management databases
  • Gather, record, organize, transcribe, and verify the accuracy of research study data
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of subject records
  • Contribute to lab publications, including data analysis and scientific writing
  • Train research staff
  • Perform related duties as needed; may include conducting literature searches, backing up the databases and computers, copy editing, and updating data entry procedures as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience as a Research Study Coordinator

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working within a community mental health setting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience with statistical software packages including SPSS
  • Ability to follow research protocols and maintain high standards of accuracy
  • Must be organized and be consistently attentive to detail
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to off-site clinic locations
  • Must be reliable, able both to work with a diverse team and to work independently
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
