The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Study Assistant.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator the research study assistant will: Assist on various study activities, including making participant reminders via telephone Assembling and tracking participant payments Conducting data coding Collecting data Purchasing study supplies Creating participant packets Assisting with IRB applications and modif! ications Assisting with budget-related activities Tracking participants and completing other study-related tasks, as necessary. Competitive candidates will be attentive to detail, highly motivated, have the ability to multi-task, take direction from more than one person, and be able to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people. REQUIREMENTS: Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience.
Additional Requirements: Experience with participant database management. Evidence of independence, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational ability, effective time management skills, strong computer skills (esp. Excel, Access, Word, SPSS), strong problem-solving skills, and strong attention to detail DESIRED: BachelorâÂÂs degree in a relevant academic area (social wor! k, psychology, public health) AND one year of relevant research experie! nce. Training in Human Subjects and HIPAA Compliance protocols Familiarity with UW Human Subjects processes and procedures Knowledge of medical and psychiatric terminology Experience working in outpatient medical settings Experience working with individuals who have psychiatric and substance-use disorders Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and competence communicating and working with health professionals, faculty members and researchers, and diverse groups within the general public Condition of Employment: Part of the application process for this position includes completing an on-line assessment to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
