A professional nurse, currently licensed in the respective state of which you are applying, who is responsible to the Nurse Manager of specified unit to which he/she is assigned.
Essenti! al Job Functions:
Provides nursing care according to the physician’s orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State and Federal Regulations.
Uses the nursing process to make continuing assessments of the individuals total health needs.
Implements nursing interventions based on assessment data.
Documents timely, outcome based information
Develops and implements the nursing plan of care.
Gives direct nursing care commensurate with education, training, or experience.
Facilitates teaching experiences for staff and individuals.
Delegates to nursing personnel in accordance with the Board of Nursing (Washington Board of Nursing for Washington, Oregon Board of Nusing for Oregon).
Acts as liaison between team and medical staff, nursing, etc.
Acts as a resource professional for all nursing staff, support team, people supported and their families as well as the IDT
Co! nforms with and provides nursing care according to the physici! an orders, in compliance with recognized nursing standards and State/Federal regulations
Responsible for reassigning nursing staff to meet the needs of the home.
All other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities (if applicable)
In the absence of a Nurse Manager or the DN, an RN shall be responsible for ensuring that staff follows policies of the facility, follow up on concerns that cannot be delayed, reassign staff as necessary, communicate to administration information regarding individual/employee status changes, and if unable to secure coverage, remain on duty until replacement is found.
Minimum Job Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
May be a graduate of one of the following approved professional ursing schools: Two-year Associate Degree Program; three-year Diploma Program; or four-year BSN Program
Experience in the following areas valuable: Gerontology, rehabilitation, pediat! rics, psychiatry, developmental disabilities. Experience as a charge nurse is helpful.
Certificates, Licenses or Registrations
Active and current registration in the state of employment
Physical Demands
Ability to assist with lifts and transfers of individuals we serve, ability to lift, push and pull 50 pounds. Frequent walking, bending, and stooping. Ability to perform CPR.
Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior)
Good working knowledge of and application of nursing skills. Expertise in providing supervision and direction to licensed practical nurses, nurse aides, and residential aides. If not currently certified, willingness and ability to complete Bethesda Lutheran Communities CPR course.
Tact, compassion, cheerfulness, accuracy, patience, flexibility regarding scheduling (i.e.,s hift, weekend, and holiday duty) calmness in time of emergency, ability to work well with and instruct team members in an i! nterdisciplinary environment, ability to treat resident information as ! confidential, assumes added responsibilities as appropriate, genuine interest in persons with developmental disabilities and commitment to helping each resident reach his/her highest potential; ability to effectively function as a charge nurse; ability to work independently and an interest in continued professional growth.
