Education Loan Repayment This position is eligible for the Washington State Health Professional Loan Repayment Program. Financial support is provided in the form of loan repayment for a minimum three-year service obligation. Award amounts are based on the applicant’s educational loan debt with a maximum award of $25,000 per year, not to exceed $75,000 for the minimum three-year service obligation.
About Eastern State Hospital Eastern State Hospital is one of two state-owned psychiatric hospitals for adults. The hospital provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for individuals with serious or long-term mental illness that have been referred to the hospital through the Regional Support Network (RSN! ) system or through the criminal justice system. Eastern State Hospital is the 287-bed state psychiatric hospital for 20 eastern Washington counties and is accredited by Joint Commission and certified by the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The Hospital is located in the city of Medical Lake. Medical Lake is located in the West Plains of Spokane County. With a population of approximately 4,810. Medical Lake has many unique features and services to offer, whether it's the wonderful lakes, abundant wildlife and wooded location, seasonable weather, or comprehensive trail system. It is in close proximity to Fairchild Air Force Base and Spokane.
Position Overview Your primary role will be to supervise and participate in the treatment of mentally ill patients at ESH. This includes assessing and treating persons detained and committed under RCW 10.77, RCW 71.05 and SB 6358. You will formulate diagnosis, prescribe medications, and monitor medication! regimen. This is your opportunity to be a treatment team leader tasked! to coordinate the input from psychology, social work, nursing and rehabilitative therapies to ensure that the patient’s treatment plan is effective and appropriate. When necessary, you will also arbitrate aftercare plans.
In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to provide consultation and training to peers and other disciplines. This involves preparing court petitions and giving testimony in hearings. It also includes advising family, community agencies, courts and others regarding hospitalization treatments and aftercare plans.

Qualifications:
Required: A Valid license to practice medicine and surgery in the State of Washington
AND
Eligible for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Employees in these positions must be able to participate as an active member of the treatment team for patients who have behavioral, social, and/or medical problems and who may exhibit non-compliant behavior.
