Join Harborview Medical Center as Health Care Specialist (HCS) - ARNP (Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner; or Physicain Assistant, PA-C) for Inpatient Psychiatry. Harborview is a level one trauma center for a four state region; a teaching & research hospital for the U.W.; and a public/safety-net hospital for a diverse community. The HCS in the Inpatient Psychiatric Units is a person who, within the scope of practice according to the ANCC-approved standar! ds and in collaboration with attending psychiatrists, can mana! ge, examine, diagnose and treat acute psychiatric problems for admitted patients.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, completing and documenting psychosocial assessments, ordering medications, collecting and recording health histories, ordering, collecting, performing and interpreting psychiatric diagnostic procedures, managing alcohol and drug withdrawal and dictating discharge summaries. This person must also be able to collaborate with the interdisciplinary treatment team in all phases of assessment, planning and treatment and work within the involuntary mental health laws of Washington State. Requirements: Licensure as Psychiatric Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Washington; or licensure as a PhysicianâÂÂs Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA). Must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the organized med! ical staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for Hospital-based positions.
Must qualify as a Mental Health Practitioner according to Washington State Law. Demonstrated competency in windows-based computer applications. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Demonstrated strong Patient and Family Centered skills.
Desired: Working knowledge of Washington Mental Health Laws. Recent inpatient psychiatry experience as an ARNP or RN or PA-C.
