Provide psychiatric evaluations and treatment for KMHS Child and Family patients. See p! atients individually and jointly with team members, family members and significant others. Become an integral part of the treatment team using a full range of capabilities to assure adequate initial and ongoing assessment, to help team members to best use and expand their own skills in managing their patients and to provide a resource to team members for relevant aspects of psychiatry.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of children and adolescents. Take charge of psychopharmacological treatment as indicated and in keeping with current practice standards.
Exchange information and help to develop treatment plans and approaches for the treatment team patients. This is typically done at treatment team, which the psychiatrist attends regularly.
See identified patients jointly with the clinician on a periodic basis either at KMHS or by accompanying a clinician on an outreach.
Provide leadership in providing f! ormal educational sessions for the team. Present cases, lectur! e, and watch videotapes regarding the educational needs of the team. Participate in the in-service program for the staff.
Work closely with the child'Âs PCP to coordinate interventions and monitoring of progress. Provide assessments and consultation to PCP'Âs and other child serving providers to facilitate an effective, efficient continuum of care.
Support the clinical team in understanding the child and their family in their context. This may be done via reflecting teams, ITCP'Âs demonstration or observation and feedback.
Pursue an area of interest in direct or indirect service such as psychotherapy or a special interest group or mood disorders clinic; or an indirect pursuit such as special evaluation or research project.
Participate in administrative activities and quality assurance activities. Provide input into developing programs and services.
Provide charting/reports and client documentation as necessary in a complete, accurate, and timely manne! r.
Participate in on-call coverage for the 24-hour programs. This coverage typically runs from 5:00 in the evening to 8:00 in the morning on weekdays and on weekends, and occurs on rotation with the other providers.
