THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION. This position is located within Mental Health Service Line, Seattle Division, Seattle, WA.

DUTIES:
The psychologist serves as a staff psychologist for the Mental Health Clinic at the Seattle Division(s) of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. The psychologist's primary duties involve working in MHC. These duties include but are not limited to: 1) psychological assessment and diagnosis of mental disorders, particularly for complex or unusually difficult patients; 2) evidence-based psychotherapy interventions, including individual, couples and group psychotherapy; 3) case management and treatment planning for an assigned caseload; 4) consultation and education to professional staff within the team, facility, and community; (5) supervision and training of psychology interns, psychology postdoctoral fellows, and psychiatry residents; (6) leadership in developing and overseeing the MHC psychotherapy program; and (7) administrative support to include screening and responding to new patient consults .

Work Schedule: 8am - 4:30pm on Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday and 11am - 7:30pm on Wednesday

Relocation expenses have not been authorized.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC

REQUIREMENTS:
· U.S. citizenship

· English language proficiency (written and spoken)

· Physical standards - All applicants must meet the physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to employment may be required.

· Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.

· Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA.

· Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (e.g., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia. Exception : The Secretary may waive the requirement of licensure for an individual psychologist for a period not to exceed 2 years from the date of employment on the condition that such a psychologist provide care only under the supervision of a psychologist who is so licensed. Non-licensed psychologists who otherwise meet the eligibility requirements may be given a temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist under the authority of 38 U.S.C. § 7405 (a) (1) (D). Failure to obtain licensure during that period is justification for termination of the temporary appointment. This may result in termination of employment.

DESIGNATED DRUG-TESTING POSITION: Applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Applicants will not be appointed to the position if a verified positive drug test result is received.

NOTE: Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the United States Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards your qualifications for this position. If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.

Veteran's Preference :
