SUMMARY : Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by diagnosing, prescribing medication, monitoring medication side effects and participating in the treatment process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
o Analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose nature and extent of mental disorder.
o Prescribe, direct, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
o Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to convey treatment plans and progress.
o Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social and medical history obtained from patients, relatives, and other professionals.
o Counsel outpatients and other patients during office visits.
o Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
o Examine or conduct laboratory or diagnostic tests on patient to provide information on general physical condition and mental disorder.
o Advise and inform guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment.
o Be part of an integrated delivery system where innovative ways to see and treat patients occur to maximize scarce resources.
o Perform other duties as assigned or as needed.
Qualifications: M.D. or D.O. Degree; Board Eligible or Board Certified Psychiatrist. Professional experience of 3 years; experience in community field work desirable.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have and maintain a current Controlled Substances Registration Certificate from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Must have and maintain a current Physician License and Controlled Substance License from the State of Washington. Must have and maintain a valid Washington Driver's License, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile. BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk o hear. The employee frequently is required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to stand walk; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
