As a Process Advisor on the PRO Operations Excellence team, your primary focus will be analyzing and documenting the operational health of the Core HR business processes that enable Starbucks PRO (Human Resources Organization) to thrive. This job contributes to Starbucks success by working collaboratively with Starbucks Centers of Excellence, and other stakeholders across the enterprise and around the globe to review, document, analyze and make recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of moderately complex to complex business processes. The Process Advisor participates as a subject matter expert in projects that impact Core HR, analyzes complex process issues impacting operational health and user experience, and recommends process improvements and technical solutions. The Process Advisor supports strategic planning and prioritization through analysis and evaluation of key business and process indicators. The Process Advisor manages internally sponsored projects to deliver and sustain enhancements to existing tools and processes. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


As a Process Advisor, you will create and manage a business process document library to support deployment of new processes, enhance current processes, and support continuous improvement efforts to drive process efficiency, operational health, and user experience. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:


  • Assists business unit groups in reviewing and documenting current business operational processes using standard process review methodology. Facilitates identification of existing process complications or deficiencies that negatively impact operational quality, effectiveness and/or efficiency.
  • Designs, develops, and produces process-related documentation using standard methods such as flowcharting tools and business process management software.
  • Conducts detailed analysis of proposed process changes to identify impacts to related processes and stakeholders upstream and downstream.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements. Makes recommendations for process change that will result in more efficient use of people, resources, and time.
  • Develops tools and methods for program and/or process metrics; conducts detailed analysis to determine the cost impact of process improvements.
  • Documents, develops, and communicates process-related policies and procedures.
  • Identifies strategic opportunities for system and process improvements.
  • Prepares summaries of process review, development, and implementation activities. Develops reports as requested. Researches and designs audit reports for interdepartmental needs.
  • Provides consulting and support to ensure use and maintenance of correct management tools and processes.
  • Researches external best practices to be integrated into department processes.
  • Supports business group implementation of procedural changes through communications, training, and change management.
  • Document processes clearly and thoroughly, and trains others on these processes.

  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Business Process Management Certification or related field or equivalent professional experience.

o Strong understanding HR business process and enterprise tools.

o Highly skilled and experienced in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

o Strong critical thinking, decision making, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

o Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

o Detailed oriented with strong analytical proficiency.

o Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, including technical writing and communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences.

o Ability to simplify and structure complex ambiguous problems and processes in a concise and effective way.

The pay range for this position may be narrower than that displayed, depending on where the work is performed
