Reading Corps is an evidence-based AmeriCorps program that partners with schools across the country to provide tutors and extra help for students1. The program is designed to help more children become proficient readers by the end of third grade2. The goal of the program is to ensure every student is reading by 3rd grade and ready for algebra by the end of 8th grade1.

Member Duties : As a Reading Tutor, you will be placed at a local school where you will help students in kindergarten through third grade to become better readers1. You will meet with students one-on-one or in small groups to provide extra practice and build skills1. With training and on-site coaching, you will be prepared to help kids succeed1. The Summer Reading Tutor provides supplemental practice in a virtual setting to children Kindergarten through third grade to develop their reading skills2. The tutor will use scripted, evidence-based literacy strategies as guided by their coach and will conduct assessments to ensure each student is on track to read at grade level
