About Eastern State Hospital Eastern State Hospital is one of two state-owned psychiatric hospitals for adults. The hospital provides evaluation and inpatient treatment for individuals with serious or long-term mental illness that have been referred to the hospital through the Regional Support Network (RSN) system or through the criminal justice system. Eastern State Hospital is the 287-bed state psychiatric hospital for 20 eastern Washington counties and is accredited by Joint Commission and certified by! the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).! The Hospital is located in the City of Medical Lake. Medical Lake is located in the West Plains of Spokane County. With a population of approximately 4,810, Medical Lake has many unique features and services to offer; whether it’s the wonderful lakes, abundant wildlife and wooded location, seasonable weather, or comprehensive trail system. It is in close proximity to Fairchild Air Force Base, Cheney, and Spokane. This position is responsible for the clinical and administrative operation of the three wards on the Forensic Services Unit, including the direct supervision of all psychiatrists on the unit and indirect administrative oversight of the medical providers and other discipline staff, including nursing, social work, rehabilitation services, and psychology.

Duties:
Position Overview This position is responsible for patient admission and discharge management; identification of the treatment modalities utilized on the unit; evaluation of patient car! e provided by psychiatric staff; budget management; operations management; resource management including equipment, staffing, students, volunteers, and other available resources; development, implementation and evaluation of the plan for patient care services; and hospital wide responsibility as a member of the Executive Committee in identifying the hospital’s strategic plan, goals, and assessment of objectives. Participate as a senior leader of the hospital Medical Staff in identifying core competencies/privileges, performance improvement activities, including ongoing professional practice evaluation, and Medical Staff priorities. Duties As the clinical director of the Forensic Services Unit, direct the operations of this three ward unit providing psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial rehabilitative care for 95 patients. Responsible for the management of the admission waiting list, ensuring that patients are admitted as soon as bed space is available. Assess the safety ! of the wards and make resource allocation decisions with the clinical d! iscipline directors. Ensure that patients receive individualized treatment in a recovery model of care. Provide direct patient care for individual patients in the absence of the attending psychiatrist. Assess, diagnose, and prescribe treatment to acutely mentally ill psychiatric patients. Complete required documentation in the patient record. Complete required billing and legal documentation. Provide education and training to staff in the recovery model of care, participate in hospital wide leadership forums to implement the recovery model and identify Medical Staff resources, such as psychiatrists leading groups, etc. Chair the Forensic Services Unit Management Committee. Plan and implement the unit’s goals and objectives, policies and procedures as well as specialized programs. Meet with the unit psychiatrists on a regular basis to discuss clinical and administrative issues. Apprise the CEO and Medical Director of all clinical and administrative issues that may affect r! esources or safety. As a senior leader of the hospital and Medical Staff, participate in hospital wide planning through participation on the Executive Committee, Interdisciplinary Treatment Committee, and other assigned committees and as a member of the Medical Staff Medical Executive Committee. Participate in decision making regarding applicants to the Medical Staff, ensuring that they are qualified to practice in their assigned job function. Provide education and training to Medical Staff students, residents, interns in other clinical disciplines.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications License to practice medicine in the State of Washington; successful graduation from an accredited psychiatric residency program; must be credentialed and privileged through the Eastern State Hospital Medical Staff process. Board eligible from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Note: Proof of education is required by the time of the interview. Compensation: In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, the annual salary range for this position is $131,076 to $169,404 .
