DUTIES:
The incumbent is assigned to Social Work Services at the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, Seattle WA. The Social Worker functions as the Community Long Term Care Social Work Supervisor and is responsible to manage all clinical aspects of the VA Puget Sound Healthcare Systems continuum of Care Services to include: the Community Nursing Home Program, Homemaker Home Health Care, Community Adult Day Health Care, Community outpatient Respite Services, Veteran Direct/Non-direct Institutional Care Program.
This supervisor position is responsible for duties to include but not limited to:
- Coordinating and managing daily operations;
- Develop policies and procedures for program operation;
- Prepares reports;
- Manages various fund control points;
- Develops Budgets;
- Provides direct clinical services;
- Plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities;
- Professional and administrative management in social work service across multiple sites, multi-divisional facilities and CBOCs;
- Provide clinical services;
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
BASIC Requirements : Must be a US Citizen.
Education: Have a MasterÂ's degree in social work from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
Licensure: Be licensed or certified at the Advanced Practice Level to independently practice social work in a state.
English Language Proficiency : Social Workers must be proficient in spoken and written English.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS: SALARY IS TO BE DETERMINED BY THE PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS BOARD. In addition to the basic requirements for employment, the following criteria must be met to determine grade level of the position:
GS-13: In addition to meeting all basic requirements, applicants must have 1 year of professional social work experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. This experience must have demonstrated broad knowledge of social work and superior skill and judgment in professional practice. For research, education and program administration positions, the 1-year requirement must have been in social work research, social work education (class or field instruction) or program administration, as appropriate. NON-QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE : Clinical social work experience obtained prior to completion of the requirements for a MasterÂ's Degree in Social Work does not satisfy this requirement. NOTE: A clinical setting is a medical center, clinic (medical or psychiatric), a residential treatment center, or any other type of facility where social work participates in collaborative treatment and is identified with the medical profession.
Supervisory Qualifications: In addition to meeting the requirements for a GS-13 Social Worker applicants must also meet the OPM Supervisory Qualifications. Qualifications: Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in VA Handbook 5005/25, Part II; Appendix F7 dated 4/15/2002, available at http://vaww1.va.gov/ohrm/HRLibrary/Dir-Policy.htm , Qualification Standard Social Worker GS-185. And The Qualification Standard for Supervisory Positions, in the Office of Personnel ManagementÂ's (OPMÂ's) Â"Operating Manual for Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions,Â" Section IV-A-29, is to be used in conjunction with this standard.
